User panel#
User panel (Users in the left admin panel) lists all users on this instance of the MINERVA Platform. It allows to search for specific users, shows how many individual projects they can access, and allows to add new users and manage existing ones.
User roles are listed below:
- Admin
- has full access on MINERVA instance to manage projects, users, plugins, annotator presets, and MINERVA configuration.
- Curator
- can add, manage and remove their projects, and manage annotator presets.
- User
- can view their projects and add or remove their data overlays.
Important: projects visible to the user anonymous (guest account) are also visible to all users and curators.
Users need to log in to a given MINERVA instance to visualise their own data on existing diagrams (users), upload diagrams (curators), or manage the platform (admins). For this they need a unique user ID. User IDs can be set up:
- manually (Add User)
- the administrator adds the user directly into the system and inputs all the necessary details.
- automatically (Sign Up)
- the users sign themselves up using an ORCID account. By default, sign up is not configured. It requires email server configuration.
Adding users#
Add user button is available in the upper right corner of the Users panel. It allows to set a user with given Login (user ID), Name, Surname, Email, Password, and Role. Name, Surname, and Email are optional. Login (user ID) is unique for the platform and cannot be changed afterwards.
Managing users#
Manage buttons in the rightmost columns allow to edit or remove users, and to edit their platform and project privileges.
Platform privileges are global, these are user role, and default privileges to this user for any new project on the instance.
Project privileges allow the user to see that project on the projects list, and interact with it according to their role: user (view and data upload) or curator (edit).
